Ok, so the s-meters aren’t smart, and this really isn’t paradise, but this IS supposed to be safer housing for people with environmental sensitivities and there’s an issue here that isn’t getting resolved and could put a third person at risk of serious health harm.
I was hoping I wouldn’t have to write this post, but it has come to my attention that a unit here is being shown to prospective tenants, when that unit should remain empty until the contents of the attached utility cabinet are moved away from the building.
The empty unit is currently unsafe for anyone to live in, never mind someone with environmental “sensitivities”.
I have to warn people, no matter how desperate you may be for chemically safer housing, please DO NOT try to live in the currently vacant bachelor unit here if you value your life! Even if it doesn’t affect you immediately, it will.
Above is the side view of the unit, the little windows on the left are above the sleeping area. A raised glass door technology cabinet divides that area from the “living room” in the front, which is on the other side of the utility cabinet. In the photo below you can see the rest of the living room window and the unit’s front door (taken on an angle from the next yard).
A great new resource has been launched to guide mothers and mothers-to-be regarding wireless radiation hazards and safety precautions that need to be taken.
“Most pregnant women understand that they should stay away from cigarette smoke, avoid alcohol and be careful about eating potentially contaminated foods of any kind. The weight of evidence clearly supports the need to protect pregnant women from wireless radiation exposures as well.”
~ Dr. Devra Davis, University of California at Berkeley
Their advice is good for all of us to heed:
More information (including scientific evidence and the above text) is available at
This is not surprising news, given what is being allowed and encouraged as economic activity these days.
Thank you Steve for sharing your story, and thank you Kim for posting it.

“Steve, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from Monash University in Australia, is now the Vice President of Stop Smart Meters Australia. And in an effort to educate politicians, scientists, and the general public on the under-recognized health crisis of electrosensitivity, Steve has documented his own case, along with much scientific research, in an 18-page brief titled “Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS): A Personal Case Study”.

Steve Weller, Vice President of Stop Smart Meters Australia, and author of the report: “Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS): A Personal Case Study”.
Australian Steve Weller was 32 years old when he first determined in 2001 that he was sensitive to wireless radiation. He had used computers his entire adult life. He also worked in the IT (Internet and Telecommunications) industry, and describes himself as an early adopter of technology.
“I was looking forward to the freedom [wireless technology] would afford me,” Steve recalls. “No more wires cluttering the desk, free to do my work on my laptop at the kitchen table while I had breakfast.”
Being technically savvy, Steve decided to buy the most powerful Wi-Fi router that was available at the time. His subsequent discovery that he was being sickened by the hardware of his life and work was not easy news to absorb…

We live in an increasingly wireless world. Manufacturers are even making wireless devices for babies now! Yet, current safety standards do not take into consideration all the effects of wireless radio frequencies on our bodies, especially those of children!!!

Men, did you know you can damage your sperm if you keep your wireless device in your pant pocket? Putting it in your shirt pocket might not be any safer, as there are reports of adverse effects on the heart and of breast cancers when phones were there.

We are in urgent need of updating safety standards, and Health Canada has appointed a committee to do something, but it isn’t clear exactly what.
At the following link, you can access the videos and written reports of many of the submissions prepared for The Royal Society of Canada Expert Panel Review public hearing day on Safety Code 6, Limits of Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Energy (wireless radiation safety)

Currently, there seems to be in place a legal “right” to pollute for profit, be it wireless radiation, toxic chemicals, or any other source of pollution. These harmful exposures cross property lines and enter our bodies, sometimes with devastating and deadly results. They also occur without our free, prior and informed consent.
This is not right!
Cindy Sage and Paavo Huttunen suggest a change:
In every society the basic rights of citizens must be safeguarded. Adoption of a Human Health Rights Declaration is necessary to protect all life and our living environment from harmful exposures that have run out of control and ahead of the scientific warnings. Some 100 years back, we learned the hard lessons of ionizing radiation and the need for strict health protections. Now it is the time to turn toward safer and healthier forms of non-ionizing radio waves and electromagnetic fields, if they exist.
Fundamental Human Health Rights
The right to homeostasis in our own bodies.
The right to normal central nervous system function.
The right to natural environmental cues that synchronize our circadian rhythms.
The right to sleep.
The right to heal.
The right to hear.
The right to reproduce.
The right to learn and retain memories.
The right to an intact genome.

I just listened to an eye-opening radio interview with the former President of Microsoft Canada. A couple of women with EHS were also interviewed.
Andy Oudman (1290 AM CJBK, London ON) and Pam Killeen interview Frank Clegg, former president of Microsoft Canada and head of Citizens 4 Safe Technology (www.c4st.org). They speak about the potential hazards associated with WiFi technology
Please listen to the program and take precautions for your own health:

“This has to be speculative but it cannot be genetic because the period is too short. Whilst there will be some influence of more elderly people, it does not account for the earlier onset; the differences between countries nor the fact that more women have been affected, as their lives have changed more than men’s over the period, all indicates multiple environmental factors.
Considering the changes over the last 30 years – the explosion in electronic devices, rises in background non-ionising radiation- PC’s, micro waves, TV’s, mobile phones; road and air transport up four-fold increasing background petro-chemical pollution; chemical additives to food etc.
There is no one factor rather the likely interaction between all these environmental triggers, reflecting changes in other conditions.
For example, whilst cancer deaths are down substantially, cancer incidence continues to rise; levels of asthma are un-precedented; the fall in male sperm counts – the rise of auto-immune diseases – all point to life-style and environmental influences.
These `statistics’ are about real people and families, and we need to recognise that there is an `epidemic’ that clearly is influenced by environmental and societal changes.”

“These results pose a major public health problem, as the epigenetic contribution to these changes, rather than longevity, have serious implications indicating earlier onset of neurological morbidity pressurizing families, health and social care services, with resource implications especially for Australia, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the USA.”

People First Radio Interview with Kim Goldberg about wi-fi and health effects… Apparently the high schools that have installed wi-fi see students with heart attacks, but instead of removing wi-fi, they buy defibrillators!!!???
I was interviewed earlier today on People First Radio (CHLY, Nanaimo BC) about electrosensitivity, Wi-Fi sickness, smart meters, and more.
Here is a link to the podcast of my 15-minute segment of the show: http://www.columbiancentre.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/473_may_09_2013_sm.mp3
People First Radio is produced by Columbian Centre Society in Nanaimo, BC, and airs every Thursday, from Noon-1:00 pm on Radio CHLY 101.7 FM.
